CHPXL Hurricane Protection

SuperMax Hurricane Protection for Florida’s 55+ & Gated Communities

Engineered to stop wind-swept flooding, reduce pressure-driven structural failures, and help protect the home you’ve chosen for this stage of life.

While most shutters are tested to standard Level D, our SuperMax Essential Building Shutter is tested to higher Level E impact velocities – similar to what’s used for essential facilities that must stay functional through major storms. That higher protection level can offer added peace of mind when the forecast becomes uncertain.

Essential Building–oriented impact testing Category 5–oriented performance Tested up to ~80 ft/s (≈54.5 mph) Higher protection than standard Level D shutters Spans openings up to 384" Serving Florida since 2005

Why SuperMax Instead of Standard Shutters?

Most residential hurricane shutters are tested to Florida Building Code Level D. That means impact testing at roughly 50 feet per second (about 34.5 mph) with design pressures set for typical home construction.

SuperMax is different. It is engineered and tested as an Essential Building Shutter, with impacts at roughly 80 feet per second (about 54.5 mph) and significantly higher design pressures – similar to those used for hospitals and other critical buildings.

Compared to standard shutters, the SuperMax Essential Building Shutter provides a much higher protection level for your glass, lanais, and entries. For many owners in 55+ and gated communities, that difference is part of their overall plan for comfort and peace of mind when storms are in the forecast.

Why Florida Homeowners Are Upgrading to CHPXL

Windswept flooding pushing against protected openings

Wind-swept Flooding

Wind-driven rain and horizontal water loads can force water into doors, sliders, and lanais in seconds.

Newspaper headline about hurricane damage and insurance issues

Insurance Reality

Headlines tell the story: higher deductibles, complex claims, and more denials after major storms.

Structural House Collapse

A Tale of Two Houses. Two homes can sit side by side—one standing, one ruined. Often, collapse begins with a single failed opening.

Pressure damage from a failed opening

Interior Wind-Swept Flooding

No lakes, rivers, or streams required.

Our systems help block wind-driven rain before it breaches doors, lanais, and sliders—reducing interior flooding and damage in coastal and inland Florida communities.

Claim Denials & Responsibility

With up to 50% of hurricane claims denied, homeowners are increasingly expected to show they took reasonable steps to protect openings and reduce avoidable water and pressure damage.

Pressure Failure from a Single Breach

SuperMax helps block hurricane winds so your doors never have to. It redirects powerful wind pressures away from doors and overhangs, protecting the home where it matters most.

What Homeowners Are Saying About SuperMax

Real feedback from Florida homeowners who chose an Essential Building–oriented shutter that’s stronger than standard systems—and, in many cases, actually cost less than the “basic” quotes they received.

“We thought the ‘hospital-level’ system would be out of reach on a fixed income. Our SuperMax quote actually came in below two bids for standard shutters, and the protection level is in a different league.”

— Carol M., 68,

“After Ian, we wanted something that would let us stay put without feeling reckless. SuperMax is rated stronger than what the neighbors have, and it still ended up cheaper than the builder’s ‘upgrade’ package.”

— Daniel & Joyce R., 72 & 70,

“We downsized to simplify life, not to spend every storm season worrying about glass. Knowing our shutters were tested like essential facilities—but priced below some ‘regular’ systems—gave us room in the budget for the grandkids’ visits.”

— Linda S., 66,

“We compared three companies. The ‘standard’ shutter option was actually more expensive once we added what we needed. SuperMax gave us essential-building style strength and still came in lower overall.”

— Robert T., 73,

Proven Where Failure Isn’t an Option

Before we ever brought CHPXL systems directly to homeowners, our products were trusted in demanding, essential-facility environments.

  • Sarasota Memorial Hospital – SuperMax systems tested and used beyond standard residential criteria, with impact velocities from approximately 80 feet per second (about 54.5 miles per hour) for essential-building requirements.
  • MacDill Air Force Base – Screens installed in maintenance hangars where mission-critical aircraft and equipment must be protected.
  • Former Governor of Louisiana – Custom-manufactured screens installed to protect a high-profile residence with elevated hurricane exposure.

We’ve performed dozens of witnessed impact tests on our SuperMax system, including signed documentation from vendors and dealers verifying impact velocities—from approximately 80 ft/s (about 54.5 mph)—far beyond typical residential testing at 50 ft/s (about 34.5 mph). These signed SuperMax test panels remain part of our permanent engineering record.
